2011 HOF entrants

I'll be honest - I'm a "small hall" kind of guy. Here's who I would vote in this year:

Raines
Alomar

on the fence:

Larkin

I think it's kind of embarrassing that some ESPN guys are voting the maximum allowed - 10. Since there are 33 players on the ballot, they're suggesting that 1/3 of all eligible players deserve to be in Cooperstown???

Give me a break.

I believe Blyleven will be elected this year, much to my chagrin. I've written about it before, but I'll say a final word or two before he's elected:

1. His ERA+ is only 18% better than the league average for his career. Three of the 18 pitchers he's tied with are in the HOF...and the other 15 are not.
2. His winning percentage is only .045 better than the teams he played for.

When a pitcher's winning percentage is .536, they should have something else going for them. Well Blyleven does - he's funny, he has a legion of internet supporters who have been screaming his name, and he's stayed visible since he retired as a Twins announcer. It didn't hurt coaching the Netherlands in the WBC either. Congrats, Bert...as of Wednesday, it won't matter what I think.
